About This Therapy
Felson Health provides highly skilled nursing staff and equipment for safe and effective IV infusions in a calming office setting. We follow the protocol set forth by NIMH to provide the highest efficacy for refractory depression, severe PTSD, anxiety spectrum disorders.
IV is the most studied modality of administration of ketamine. It has been used for years within the practice of emergency medicine and anesthesia. Recent studies have shown that at low doses, i.e. sub-dissociative doses, Ketamine has robust effects on the brain. It was found that the brain activates neurogenesis when exposed to ketamine and makes new synaptic connections. This is part of the theory behind why this medication has been effective where others have failed. 100% of the medication is absorbed when given IV or IM. IV allows for smooth controlled infusion of the medication and this is why it is my preferred method of administration. What’s more is that IV administration has been shown to have lasting effects long after clients have completed their six sessions.
